Do you know why you’ve never seen a peanut tree?
That’s because peanuts don’t grow on trees. Actually, peanuts aren’t even nuts but legumes, seeds enclosed in pods and belong to the bean and pea family and a terrific source of protein. Peanuts actually have beneficial monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. These fats as compared to saturated fats have been shown to help lower blood cholesterol levels. Lowering your blood cholesterol level may reduce your risk of coronary heart disease. Peanuts are a “good for you” snack!

Peanuts should be stored in airtight containers, ideally in a refrigerator or freezer in order to preserve freshness. They will remain fresh six months or more if stored properly.
(I just had to add in here that they do not last 6 months in my house, they are gone in 6 days! Sandy Quinney, website designer)
